Robert Baratheon = King Osric the Usurper

It's pretty clear that Von Sydow's King Osric was probably Martin's primary inspiration for Baratheon. Hell they're almost identical.

Both Battle tested, military men who Usurped their way to power only to long for the days of battle and gore.

Also came to find out that all the jewels and the power means nothing without real family love. Both very Shakespearean characters.

So many great small parts like this in Conan.

This describes every king getting into his older years and ruminating on the meaning of his life.
