Nah. In the last 3 days I've watched Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day, War Dance, The Cruise, and Love Me Tonight. All were good.

Are you offended because I don't like a CGI-based trailer for a new Planet of the Apes movie? Sorry.

ope it's cool all the way thru, and doesnt implode into CGI like "I am Legend" did.
Er, it is a movie about apes that are all cgi, so it will be a cgi fest from minute 1 until the end.
I don't think all cgi sucks. In fact I think the apes looked pretty darn impressive. I have faith in WETA when it comes to cgi.

Looks like apes trying to act like people, instead of Burton's people trying to overact like apes.
Looks good.
Prequel and sequel are pretty useless terms when it comes to the Apes movies. Once Rod Serling turned Bouelle's story into a time travel tale and Escape made it into a circular time travel tale, all bets were off.
If this is a reboot of the series, I like the idea of them starting from a separate point in the loop than the original run. Less comparison to the original (plus, you're starting from one of the best points in the series... Conquest).
So far, this thing looks like a win.

What I would do... seriously... is use this as a total reboot and ditch the old "Planet of the Apes" timeline.
Movie 1: Caesar and the super-apes develop.
Movie 2: The apes continue their evolution, carve out their own nation on a tropical island somewhere, resist human efforts to take it back, form the roots of their society.
Movie 3: Mankind wipes itself out in nuclear apocalypse... but what's this? The ape nation was spared? How did THAT happen? And how did those nukes get launched to begin with? Maybe those apes got REALLY smart... and they're left to inherit the planet.
I think that would work.

Movie 4: ??????
Movie 5: Profit.

I like the way you think, Gamecock. Let's do this.

Some concept images for the movie:

Keep the "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" quote out of the movie and you're good to go.

That was in the first movie so that won't be in this one. Also, I doubt these apes will be able to speak into the very very last part of the movie.

That would be pretty cool if the movie turns out to be a good money maker, and all throughout the movie the apes don't say anything, up until the final scene where one speaks.

I think the plan is that the apes don't speak AT ALL in this one.
Posted on 4/15/11 at 7:31 pm to SpqrTiger
They have to say at least something, even if its the very last thing before they fade to black.
I'd if the movie ends with them having destroyed San Francisco and they are walking away and one them looks back and says "shithole".

They should go the route of Transformers 2 and have Apes with Ghetto voices, and make really really good jokes too.

I get the ghetto part, but which Transformer had the hispanic accent?
Posted on 4/15/11 at 7:49 pm to GamecockAlum
My bad Gamecock, I couldn't remember if one was Hispanic or if they were both Ghetto.
Posted on 4/15/11 at 7:53 pm to HumbleNinja
They could have been the dual threat of being both ghetto AND hispanic
Posted on 4/15/11 at 7:59 pm to GamecockAlum
if it's set in San Fran, then at least one of the apes should be "dainty" and another would have a near impossible time pronouncing his "R's"

You mean the same Fox that put out by far the biggest box office hit in movie history?
Your argument just pwned your logic.
So just cause Fox partnered with Cameron and Lightstorm to make Avatar they're a great studio?
There is a reason they have a reputation as a crap studio that shits all over up and coming directors.

Well when success in your business is generally measured by your take at the box office, and in which case they did just that, then yes I would say that are doing alright for themselves.
