I’m a little late to the GOT discussion, and while I enjoyed the episode (unlike others apparently), can we at least agree that Djawadi’s score was (as usual) pretty amazing?

His version of Paint it Black on Westworld and his opening piece in The Winds of Winter have always been two personal favorites of mine, but I thought the piece in last night’s episode as the NK approached Bran was just as phenomenal.

In fact, maybe his music is the reason why some of the criticisms of the plot lines in the shows don’t bother me as much since the music is so immersive.

Any other fans?

I actually didn’t even realize he was the composer for both until I started streaming the Westworld music a few months back. And while GOT would be awesome regardless, I think Westworld would be missing a lot without his music.

Love his stuff. He obviously gets influence from Max Richter, but I think Maxence Cyrin was also a big influence.

Yes, but I think he can get lazy. The first two seasons of Game of Thrones are among the best two soundtracks of a television season ever, but he just did a frickload of remixes from seasons 3-5. 6 was a return to form, 7 was more of the same, but he was excellent last night. Giachinno constantly made more themes in LOST, and Djawadi hasn’t kept up on that regard.

Well that all maybe true, but I guess I just enjoy the music for what it is, even if it isn’t always super original.

I went back and listened to his stuff, and I can hear the similarities. His stuff is good too, so I’m glad you mentioned it.

Someone did a very similar version of Paint it Black years before he did. His stuff is good though.

Loved it... immediately reminded me of winds of winter which I went back and listened to. The organs in winds of winter sort of reminded me of the interstellar track from zimmer, which I also thought was awesome.
