Put on Bambi as background noise for my little boy

I’m in my thirties and probably haven’t seen it in 20+ years. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, my wife (no pics) was making fun of me.

At first what stuck out was the sexuality you don’t think about as a kid. Flower the skunk comes as flaming gay but walks off with a female, I was kind of confused considering how homo he was. The King of the Forest having railed Bambi’s mom and a hundred other does. Bambi fighting that other buck for the privilege of mounting Faline.

As an adult, I can see why it wasn’t a favorite of mine. The shite is traumatizing.

What a masterful job never showing man, but his threat is palpable. The obvious scene of his mom getting killed sticks out (what an incredible running shot by the hunter btw), but the quail scene when the one panics and flies to get shot is another one. These hunters are just killing anything that moves.

Then the absurdity of Bambi getting shot mid-air on a 20 foot jump then having to outrun a forest fire while gut shot.

As a hunter myself, I laughed out loud at the shots the men were taking at full speed running animals. But of course they had to make it that way to increase the risk factor.
