Part of Bezos' business model is to give his most loyal customers something for free, let them get in the habit of enjoying it on a daily basis, then charge them a "small monthly fee" to keep it.

• "Two Day Shipping!" (Well, when we can.)
• "Free Amazon Music!" (It's music. We just tell you what and when to listen.)
• "Free Prime Video!" ("We'll be back to Mrs. Maisel after this message.")

In the 60's and 70's we called those guys "pushers".

I pay for Amazon music Unlimited so I don't have any issues with ads.

That was originally part of Prime Music.

Unlimited offered you a wider selection, which is what you paid for.

Now, Prime Music won't even let me play music I purchased.

Prime memberships cost money, dude.

Prime Music costs money, as does Prime Video.

No one is talking about “free” services.

Well about two years ago they fricked up Amazon Music to the point that it is unlistenable, so this is par for the course.

forcing everything to "shuffle" was a fricking tragedy.

It feels like streaming services, even the ones that aren’t for live TV like YouTube TV or Sling are, are eventually going to have the same problems as cable. By the time you pay for the different streaming services you want, you’re paying as much or more than you paid for cable/satellite. Now streaming services are wanting to add or increase advertising on their services.

I really was heartbroken to wake up and find that I could no longer listen to albums on Amazon Music.

Aren't those paid memberships though?

I do. I don't have premium or youtubetv or anything.

It's free, so I expect ads. Not the same as if I'm paying a subsciption to a platform.

Not sure what you're trying to say for sure.
