Bump

Holy shite what a pleasant surprise. Wife and I watched it last night and both loved it. Very good pilot, had us laughing consistently but definitely has a good heart as well.

And the gravity of the end of the world scenes were actually done very very well too.

I love the British feel of it, and can see how it was produced to be shown in UK. It seems much more suited to a cable or streaming audience than an NBC show. Very surprised but impressed they picked it up.

Everyone should give this one a shot, despite the unfortunate choice of title, which may give some a cheesy impression. Definitely hope it sticks around.

Hollywood Reporter review

quote:

Given that nobody really knows what to make of a co-production comedy, and certainly not what to do with an hourlong comedy about the end of the world, it’s probably fair to assume that You, Me and the Apocalypse, premiering tonight on NBC, has gone under the radar for most people. And that’s unfortunate, since this pre-apocalypse comedy — as opposed to, say, Fox’s The Last Man On Earth, a post-apocalypse comedy — has a fresh, funny and certainly thoughtful take on the end.

There are plenty of laughs to be found, but that doesn’t seem to be creator and writer Iain Hollands’ primary objective. He’s all over the map with this U.S.-U.K. co-production (which has already aired in Britain), and the ambition is what makes it engaging.

This was actually a pretty good pilot. I'll definitely give it a shot.

With the title I was expecting something cliche/cashing in on the post-apocalyptic trend, but it was pretty good and had some funny moments.

I saw the commercials on NBC so we fired up the firetv and Genesis to see if the pilot was up yet, not knowing the first season (10 eps I think) had already aired in the u.k. Made it through the second episode so far and the wife and I are pleasantly surprised. Language is pretty salty on the u.k. version, can you tell they re-dubbed over the original?

Just wanted to bump this thread, pretty sure the second episode airs tomorrow on NBC. I've got Genesis/Kodi so I've watched the first three episodes, and I've gotta say, my wife and I are definitely sold on it. I thought it was going to be a strange comedy (the marketing kind of blew on this as far as I'm concerned) and it has some of those elements, but I think it's going to end up being more of a comedy/drama/suspense/religious fiction. In other words, it doesn't fit into a neat box like most of the shows on broadcast television. If you missed the first episode, I'd encourage you to find a way to stream it, because it's worth a look.
