How do we even know if Walter asked them to check the mail? It was determined that Walter left in a hurry due to chest pains or something....he wouldn't have time to ask the Klopeks to check the mail. I always just assumed Hans or Dr. Klopek were just snooping around Walter's place and took the mail and hair.

The cop at the end said he talked to Walter and confirmed it, and also accused Ray of kidnapping Walter's dog.

Ohh yeah. Well, forgive me...it's probably been 20 years or more since I last saw the movie.
The bad thing about the movie is that any time I see Bruce Dern in something, I can only see him as Rumsfeld.
