The Oscars have been a joke for a while.

Best Editing - most dizzying cuts, even if jarring
Best sound - Loud, (F1… car go vroom)
Original Score - the Shakespeare movie was nominated which literally just remixed “On the nature of daylight”which has been in multiple films, Shutter Island etc.
Best Actor - They have a bad habit of awarding the character played, not the actor. (DDL, Pacino, McConaughey) Especially if you’re playing a gay, a retard, or lost weight.

And that’s not even touching the obvious one of the literal required quota of POC.

17.9 million? Are they counting pregnant women as two?

Are you suggesting that having this category is a joke? Maybe, but certainly not because of what you just said.

It never goes to the movie with dizzying cuts. It almost always goes to the Best Picture winner.

From 1981 to 2013, they matched every single year.

And I don't think Americans are watching the show less because of who wins editing, or because the sound category is now just one category that rewards a loud movie instead of two.

agree to disagree on editing. I don’t necessarily think it’s always about the winners but the nom snubs too. The fact that Bohemian Rhapsody won editing while a film like The Dark Knight didn’t get nominated is pretty much my argument.

I mean you’re probably right about audience but I wasn’t meaning joke as in less people watching. I just meant in terms of actual achievement.
