Anyone seen this is it worth watching? Considering watching it today. I see it has great reviews. But not sure they will give
bad reviews for a movie like that without fear of
backlash.

I watched it mostly just to see the parts with Leslie Odom Jr singing Sam Cooke songs and enjoyed it. The actor playing Malcolm X seemed kind of like the weak link to me but that’s probably just from having Denzel’s performance in my head

If you can suspend yourself from today's social climate and just watch it from a 1960's perspective, it's fine. By fine, I mean good. Watching the dynamic between all 4 is pretty interesting. 3 entertainment geniuses as famous as could be and 1 guy "who didn't have a job".

Too many movies that are based off of plays, kind of feel like plays and I can’t really get into them. Fences, and Ma Rainey‘s Black bottom being two big examples. But this one felt more like a movie than a play, and credit to the director, especially considering it was her first movie to direct. I loved the little things that they put at the beginning and the end of the movie to show you how they started and how they ended up. Man, that scene at the beginning with Jim Brown and Beau Bridges really turned on a dime, and I was like good Lord.

If you watch it , you have to understand going in that it is a pure work of fiction. It is the writer’s account of what these guys “may have discussed” if together on that night. They were at the fight. They all support Ali. Clearly Malcolm and Ali were close prior to the fight. The reality is that Ali and his brother converted to the NOI years before the fight. In fact , it was predetermined that the official announcement would take place the say after the fight. Given this, Jim Brown and Cooke affinity for chasing ladies, Cooke’s alcoholism and Malcolm’s desire to maintain an extremely low profile bc of his censorship by NOI, it is extremely unlikely he would have hung out with Brown and Cooke, let alone had any discussions with them about civil rights or religion immediately after that fight.
I liked it as a work of fiction , but like many historical fictions am always concerned that younger generations will accept these works as “fact” as opposed to fiction.

All I needed to see was Regina King's name attached and I knew I didn't want to watch it. She's the Jamele Hill of Hollywood.

I really liked it. I'm glad they went in a totally different direction than Denzel and Spike Lee. I enjoyed all 4 of the main performances, though I thought the Ali role had the least meat to it.

Pretty boring imo. I was thinking it would be some kind of movie with some crazy things that happened that spawned some racial stuff. I was completely bored from the get go. I think it portrays them all as these good guys when we know otherwise of Malcom X, and Jim Brown. Jim Brown was a woman beater. I don`t know much negative stuff on Sam Cooke or even Ali.

What in the marketing, description, or pretty well-known source material led you to expect this?

I give respect to any actor who has the balls to take on the role of Malcolm X after Denzel Washington.

Nothing. It was a blind watch. I don’t do much research on the movies I watch. Sometimes they tell you too much
