Yeah they've brought down chain link fences in other episodes.
I just think it is funny that people (viewers & posters) will accept that theres a zombie apocalypse going on but if the writers miss one single detail, no matter how small, then people on here are livid. I like for it to at least be consistent, zombies can smell humans well or they can't, zombies can run or they can't. But I realize certain liberties must be taken for the sake of television.
To me, WD is a LOT like LOST, just with worse actors, no smoking chicks, and Zombies.

Running a loud as tractor while digging a moat would probably attract a good amount of attention.
Not to mention when you would run out of fuel...

Yeah, I was just kidding around. I'm not gonna dig a moat unless I can do it first class, and that requires filling it with hot, boiling, oil. And they obviously don't have access to that.

Considering as people said, you are five miles away from the nearest thing I think you would be okay with it in short periods of time. Just have to go find more fuel in town(they have to be doing it already..they have 2 trucks).

Dude, no one is digging a moat. Chill.

In the post apocalyptic zombie world, there is heavy machinery all around just waiting for you. I would build a barbed wire fence first. It is simple to build and will provide a measure of zombie defense. Then I would go to the nearest contstruction sight and get me a big Komakatsu track hoe and dig me a moat behind that fence. Then I would build another fence and then another moat.

Just checking
And Enigma, that looked white on my tv. I need to revisit that tonight

I laughed when you got to the second moat.

You really have nothing to do during the day other then
A.) Build Protection
B.) Find Food
C.) Avoid being eaten by zombies
So if I had a farm, two farm trucks, and the ability to get a tractor(I don't see where this would be hard) then I would build my waterless moat and sit back. The question is how close to the house do you dig? The closer the smaller it needs to be in length/width. The further our(more protection) the larger.

The last fricking glass of orange juice on planet earth and Rick spills it all over the tablecloth.

The empty moat would work. Should be able to find some earth moving equipment. shite, they are living on a farm, a tractor could help immensely. It wouldn't have to go all the way around. Just have make it wide enough at the entrance with a draw bridge. If zombies hit another part of the perimeter, just walk them to the moat. Once the moat has enough in there, just set the whole thing on fire. This sounds like it would actually work.

You're in my group. We will eat good(deer/rabbit) and zombies cannot get us.

Looks like I will survive with my great idea.

I would probably stat small and get it all around the perimeter and then go back and make it larger. Like you said, ain't shite else to do.
If someone did all that meth they had they could dig that moat with a tablespoon in a cpl days.

Any good moat has to have a draw bridge.

It seems like the best defense that I've seen on here. Walls can be broken, water doesn't protect you, but making them fall into pits...could work.
