Watched 1408 last night. I remember it being better than I thought it was last night, but I still enjoyed it and it's pretty good.

I remember Baloo always loved this movie, and he loved how the premise was fairly simple in that "It's just an evil fricking room."

Gerald's Game. More of a psychological thriller than a horror, but it's pretty good. It's a little odd, and some of the material is difficult to watch. But all in all it's good at what it's trying to do and worth a watch.

I still need to make myself watch this. I love everything Flanagan does. BUT… I read this book only once, in 7th grade, and the degloving scene still sticks with me. I’m not sure why that particular thing affects me so much, but it has kept this on a to be watched list for me.

Tried watching Terrifier with the wife this weekend. She noped out whenever he cut the girl in half with a hacksaw.

The mom in the beginning almost made me turn it off. At least it set the bar low for acting and dialogue for the remainder of the movie.

I want to throw in The Rapture, Michael Tolkin’s 1991 film starring Mimi Rogers as a telephone operator who lives a hedonistic and empty lifestyle until she goes on a spiritual journey. It’s by no means a traditional horror film but rather contains elements of psychological or even religious horror. It’s a very underrated film, and one that really stays with you for some time after. It’s currently playing on the Criterion channel. I hope some of you will check it out!

From the thread below on the board. I watched High Tension today. What could’ve been a really good straightforward horror/thriller movie, ended up having a pretty stupid twist to it and it ended up basically completely ruining the movie. If just made it dumb and most of the movie didn’t make sense afterwards.

Just finished re-watching the original 1980, The Fog. I really enjoy it. John Carpenter's music to a movie sets the tone.

Now have The Lost Boys on.

I will never get tired of this movie.

I’ve started watching Rose Red on Hulu. I don’t hate it, which is surprising as it was made for tv.

I've gotta say, I’m not as excited for this October’s Shudder lineup as I have been in years past. I hated the first saw, so I didn’t watch any past that. I guess I’ll give them another try this year. I’m excited for their new Hell House LLC release..

I felt like Wolf of Snow Hollow didn't know what type of movie it wanted to be. The comedy and horror felt disjointed. 5/10

I thoroughly enjoyed Evil Dead Rise. I can't wait to see where they take this series. 8/10

Malignant started off strong and then did a 180. That could have been the intention though based on the plot twist. 6/10

Watched Hellraiser for the first time ever last night. I hardly knew much about it going in, but thought it was considered fairly good/popular. Always hearing about it, sequels, etc.

Holy frick was it awful. Just so fricking strange, horrible acting. Nice special effects with the reanimation scene, but that's about it. Just garbage.

How was Tenebre? I started watching it the other morning before work but didn't get too far into it.

I tried watching it several years ago and felt the same. So much so that I ended up turning it off. It was just….bad. I guess that was definitely one of those “you had to be there at the time” type of movies. And I hated scary movies when I was younger so I never watched it.

I just finished The Void. I’ve heard decent things here and there around this board about it, but man I didn’t really care for it. Maybe I had a different idea of what it was going to be about. But it fell flat for me. The acting was bad, the SFX were weird, and the story was meh. All in all I’d recommend skipping it if you’ve never seen it.

When is Hell House supposed to come out?

Pro tip: there is a free trial for Shudder from 10/5 - 10/8.

I’ve made a list of shite I need to watch during that time:

Deadstream
Kill list
Possession (1981)
Speak no evil
Channel zero

Only one from that list I haven’t watched is kill list, so I’ll add it. I really enjoyed deadstream. Speak no evil was great, but so frustrating to watch. Hell House 4 is 10/30.

Honestly, they change up movies frequently enough that I find it really worth having.

Kinda slow for much of the movie but starts to get interesting towards the middle. The end is pretty good. The kills are all done in first person view and have some cool camera angles. It has a different feel than the typical American horror movie, which I appreciate.

I really do think it is one of my streaming services I’m happiest with. You should get it.
