Just finished up, as well. I really enjoyed the season and they definitely set things up well for next season.
My only complaint would be that I didn't like the way Kiki was portrayed. The early episodes of the season he just came across as whiny, a goody two-shoes, unlikable, and, I don't know, just overall douchiness. Meanwhile, Felix, Neto, and Rafa were portrayed as these cool mofos who you really wanted to see win. It got to the point where I wanted to fast forward through the Kiki scenes until like EP6.
I just kind of feel like they're doing it wrong when setting up next season as Kiki's revenge when the way this season was written, despite being the protagonist, he wasn't as likable as the antagonists. They did a much better job of portraying Pablo Escobar as a truly evil man who you KNEW had to be stopped.

Meh I know a lot of people who rooted for Pablo like you mentioned throughout the show. He was portrayed as a badass MFer and people loved it.
Kiki to me came off as a much more innocent bystander and wrongful death because in the original narcos we never saw a DEA death (due to Kiki obviously). I think his wife is the superstar of the show, in that she really is the one who brings you in emotionally to his story. That’s where the revenge comes from. And I want to see those bastards get frickkked

episode 8 so far, it's damn good

Just finished the series last night. Very good and a damn strong ending that has me fired up for next season. In regards to Pablo Escobar, I thought the scene when Gallardo met with Escobar was one of the best of the series. Had me on the edge of my seat.
******Spoilers******
I enjoyed how they circled back and showed that Gallardo met with Kiki during Kiki’s torture/interrogation. That was a strong scene as well. Got to see that exchange and how Gallardo ended up with the leverage/tapes over those in Mexico City.

Always remember that Pablo Escobar doesn’t like Mexicans and that his hippo doesn’t like Mexicans either.

Lol- that scene was funny but mostly true in real life.
Felix getting those tapes and still end up being the boss. Sent his godson head to his friend, yikes.
Felt bad for Isabella
And I was rooting for Felix and Pablo lol. Wasnt a fan of Pena all series. Liked everyone else- Calderon was crazy

Even reading the head in the box spoiler on here, I was still taken back for a second. As for Isabella, I thought it was a perfect example of if you are going to try to shoot the king you better not miss.
This was a great season, I think I would put it second behind Season 3. It is awesome that they have been able to put out 4 very good seasons so far, and they are set up for many more good ones.
They probably did Kiki an injustice in how they portrayed him. He seemed just whiny and weak.

I didn't see him that way at all
Kiki went after Felix in the street. Antagonizing people to start paying attention is not whiny. He was doing real, ballsy police work
RIP
The teaser scene for next season has me excited as hell. I'm glad that I know nothing about the history of these cartels. The surprises make it compelling.

I can’t wait to see when the cartel kills the Cardinal by accident and that is when Mexico said alright you went too far frick this. I don’t know if it will be next season or after.

I should be fluent in Spanish by now

That was the end of El Chapo (as far as we know). So that’s a long way away

I agree. I think the portrayal was meant to show his level of commitment to his job, and have the audience connect with him.
The real Kiki was much more undercover than in the show. His character in the show wanted Félix to know who he was, but in reality, Félix knew him. Kiki got close enough to members of the cartel as an undercover agent to learn about the marijuana field.

Just finished and loved it
I’m sorry but I’m slow and have some questions
1. Wonder why they didn’t show Neto and Rafa anymore. Hopefully season 2
2. The scene where the officer catches Félix and he makes a deal, can someone explain that more? So the officer took the money so the tapes?
3. I’m confused when the officer let Rafa go on the plane. They said later the officer got reassigned and then it’s the same guy. What did I miss?
4. Can someone explain how Félix got back in power and was in control at the end? The whole tapes thing confused me

What do you mean? Rafa was arrested

He took the edited tapes that kept the names bleeped out of his superiors. If he released the real tapes he would’ve been killed so he took the money and the edited tapes

The guy was sent from a part of the corrupt Mexican government. That story about him letting the guy go went public and it finally got them to send someone else in that wasn’t corrupt (until the end with the tapes). It wasn’t the same guy

They left it somewhat open ended but he basically just bought his way out of arrest and took back control

Got it. So why would he be killed had the names been released?

Because they were names of his superiors extremely high up in the Mexican government. And soon as he brings those tapes back they shoot him in the back of the head and destroy the tapes
