I think I'll go see it. Everyone is taking about the "tire change scene." The said it's so tense you can't breathe

If you got off on Negan in the first episode of this WD season, you'll enjoy the tire change scene. It's for that audience.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it. It has some really tense moments (tire change, etc). Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were superb. Actually all the acting was top notch but those two really stand out. The story leaves a little to be desired but by no means was I ever bored or disinterested. I don't think the ending was as vague as some people might think. Also FYI as soon as the credits rolled about 5-6 people within ear shot immediately said out loud something along the lines of "what? Well that was terrible". So I guess you either love it or hate it.

Very good movie. It's a "correlationship" story within a story. You get to know Edwards feelings and emotions without really meeting present-day Edward.

she hallucinated the entire thing.

I'm surprised. The 5min intro scene should have gotten more press. Absolute torture

***SPOILERS***

I really did not enjoy the movie. Felt it was boring and plodding, tbh. there were elements in the movie that never really went anywhere, like her relationship with her new husband. Yes the tire changing scene was great. But not much else really got me into the story.
I really dont understand the hype for this one. Can someone explain why the enjoyed it so much? It's basically about a woman who has made poor life choices and is now unhappy. Cool.

Saw it, nothing like a David Lynch film. Nowhere near as original. It's a bit artsy, but that's about it. It was just ok.

Fvck yes, this movie is amazing!

Truly a thrill to watch. The tension will make you squirm in your seat, but it's impossible to take your eyes off the screen.

Great script, great pacing.

Amy Adams is perfect in every way. Her acting, her voice, her eyes, lips, body - everything, perfect.

Gyllenhaal just keeps outdoing himself. He absolutely owns this role. My girlfriend told me I visibly shuddered during a couple of his scenes. He's so alive with emotion, pours everything into his character.

It's true what they say - this movie is beautiful to look at (except for the opening credits - you'll see what I mean). Makes art of every scene. Tom Ford may be a lot of things, but one thing's for sure - the man is an artist!

Saw it for the first time last night. Going back again tonight. Easily one of the best movies of the year.

saw it last night. very good movie. tight script, beautifully shot, and the best original score of the year. that main theme was so beautifully Hitchcockian, but still unique enough on its own. did a great job of tying together the different narratives (present day, manuscript, past) seamlessly.

ill probably catch it again as well. just a great moviegoing experience. one of the best movies of the year, for sure

ETA: everyone loved Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but I thought he overacted and it took me out a bit. Michael Shannon was indeed fantastic though. his comedic timing is great

This.

Great writing, great direction. Once I figured out exactly what they were doing, I was a little worried it might get convoluted but it didn't in the slightest. Unlike some of the so called contenders for best picture this year, this movie actually has great rewatchability and I can't wait to check it out again.

what did people find so enthralling about the story? Amy Adams doesnt change at all throughout the movie. she is in the same spot where we meet her as she is in the end. Don't get the hype still.

Just saw this movie and really enjoyed it. It's a bittersweet revenge story. The tire change scene was intense. Stuff like that freaks me out

Just got around to watching this. I thought the acting was great and I loved how the movie was shot. Like everyone said the tire change scene and actually that whole fictional narrative was very good. I just didn't feel the connection between it and the present day Adams narrative. I know what it was trying to do but it didn't quite work for me. Would still recommend checking it out though.

It's basically a different take on Last House on the Left.
