They would have found him. That type of money leaves a trail no matter what. It was 2 million, I think, and it was based in 1980. So that is a huge sum of money back then. Him and her taking off would have been suspicious. People would have followed. Or at least checked them out. His best bet was to swap out the bags, bury it deep, wait about a year or so and then made his move. It didn't look like he had the most expensive tastes anyway..
