She is a Silver Surfer, but I'm not going to waste my breath on you guys any longer. You'd rather just lose your shite over it than actually try to be informed.
No, Galactus had multiple heralds. There was one Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd.
Perhaps there's an interesting story explanation, but it does seem like more of a gender swap.

A lot of highs, some lows. A lot of us asked for a period piece. We're getting one, for better or worse. The family dynamic seems better in this trailer. The Silver Surfer is just unimpressive.
I can't disagree, but it feels more "meh" - maybe a bloop single or leg out to a double. They need more than that right now.

She is a completely unnecessary gender swap of a beloved character, and she makes this movie worse.
or maybe, since Shalla and Norrin are intertwined as iterations of the silver surfer int he books, we wait and see where it goes from here before we snap judge it based on a short trailer.
but hey, you said you were done with it, so now you can move on to other shite to bitch about, or just not look for every little detail to bitch about in movies.

I understand who her character is completely, but, in this instance she is taking the place of Norrin Radd in one of the most iconic super-villain introductions in comic book history. It would be one thing if she was there telling her story, but she's in place of someone else for their most important story. For all intents and purposes, she is "the" Silver Surfer of this Fantastic Four's history.
Exactly. She is completely taking the Silver Surfer's origin storyline.

Johnnys portrayal seems like a complete knock off of Tony Starks “smartass-ness”

You watched that trailer and somehow came to the conclusion that the Silver Surfer is a little detail?

This trailer makes me lose interest in this film
I'm sorry for being this harsh but what a stupid fricking take.
This looks better than anything Marvel has made with the exception of No Way Home and Deadpool vs Wolverine, since Endgame came out in 2019. 6 years.
I think this trailer looks great.

I'm completely done with the girl boss MCU garbage. It's no coincidence that the movies have mostly sucked since this started.
I love Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic too but just maybe Marvel get this right. They quite literally have to. I think they will.
This movie was filmed after a ton of failures especially Captain Marvel and so on so it gives me hope they get it right.
On top of that there's rumors that Lakeith Stanfield will be Norrin Radd in the modern MCU.
I will watch before judging but this seems like a step in the right direction of FINALLY getting F4 right. The Thing and Human Torch look amazing btw.

I honestly do not care who the surfer is - the fact they are using an established character and not fabricating one to shoe horn in, makes it pretty minor in my book.
noone is going to see the surfer - they want to see the F4 and a real deal Galactus.
so yeah, in the grand scheme of the movie - minor.

Sure, they get the look of the era right. The rest is not great.

Never watch either of these people.
You're right, they MUST nail this movie. And the introduction of the Xmen. These things must work or it will be final nail in the coffin of the MCU. This trailer isn't a good sign.
The Thing's voice is wrong.
Sue isn't the leader and it won't work if they try to make her the leader. Perhaps that's not what they're trying to convey by having her narrate the trailer, but this trailer and the actresses statements make it seem like that's where we're headed.
The Silver Surfer who filled this role in the comics is not female.

I mean...self-fulfilling prophecy, I guess? Definitely no one is going so they can see THIS Silver Surfer.

This is crazy to me. How is it not a good sign? You still don't get into specifics. Silver Silver and everyone in that Fantastic 4 universe is gonna fricking die. I'm just confused how you can say the trailer is arse when it gives us a glimpse of everything we were expecting.

I'll wait for more than 2 lines of dialogue.

It is an alternate universe. She will probably die. Norrin Radd is going to the the main MCU Silver Surfer. Just breathe baw.
You list like 2 or 3 minor things yet don't mention how awesome Thing, Human Torch, Galactus, the 60s era, and most everything else looks in the trailer.
This won't be a shite show like the other shite they've released recently.

- Reed Richards wrecked with guilt and stress realizing he doesn’t have the answers to everything
- Susan as the backbone of the family keeping her borderline autistic husband grounded and focused
- Johnny and Ben already have that brother dynamic
- Silver Surfer actually looks great. Julia Garner seems to have the emotionless, monotone speech pattern down
- Galactus as the gigantic mega threat he’s supposed to be. I cannot wait to see the full reveal and hear Ineson’s voice
And Julia Garner in the role (if we're going to argue that it's a gender swap) makes sense if their universe is an alternative universe (as it appears to be).
I thought they really nailed the retro look and I like it. I plan to see it.

yes the character is, but the movie isn't called "The Silver Surfer and the Fantastic 4".
she is just an add in character to introduce Galactus - and the fact she is an established character int he MCU proper, and has been his Herald in the IP - i guess I cannot understand the outrage.
in the books the mantle of the surfer was removed from one herald and granted to another - IE Norrin to her, and back - nothing to say that she either fails Galactus in his bid to consume earth, and has her powers stripped and bestowed to Norrin - in his bid to have Galactus spare his life.
you guys are quick to shite all over it with no inkling of where it goes.

I laid out some specifics in the post you responded to. For me, nailing the main characters is necessary. If they can't get that right, why would I expect them to get anything else right?
I can think of very few cases where Disney didn't nail the main characters and still made a good movie.

Well, we do have that, from the previous trailer:

But I did mention how they nailed the era. It looks great. Human Torch looks good too, no doubt. I don't think we've seen enough of Galactus, Reed's powers, or Sue's powers to really draw any conclusions there. I do wish they would show some of Reed's powers because I don't think the whole stretchy thing has been used well in many live-action movies or shows.
Also, the Silver Surfer is not at all a minor thing.

We get it. Norrin Radd was the Surfer for 60 years, Shalla Bal was for 5 minutes. It still sucks. You're doing mental gymnastics to justify what was clearly a gender swap by Disney just to check the box.

To be fair, the overconfident smarmy guy who doesn’t take things as seriously as the other 3 is pretty on brand imo.
Honestly Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal were the two cast members I was most on the fence with when they announced the casting, but I can definitely see it now.
People always reference Ioan Gruffudd’s portrayal of Reed from the 2000s movies as being accurate just based on looks, but Reed Richards doing stretchy tricks dancing at parties and flirting with women is so out of character
The smartest man in the world constantly trying to solve everything only to realize how far out of his depth he is when he discovers all these cosmic beings and alternate dimensions to the point that it nearly drives him insane IS the real Reed Richards
