It's kinda long, probably a little slow, but The Empire of the Sun was a really good movie. Christian Bale was a kid in that movie and did a great job. Some more classic 70's-80's movies for you young kids:

Porky's
American Graffiti
Big Touble in Little China
Maximum Overdrive
Christine
Meatballs
Breaking Away
The Fly
Kickboxer
Bloodsport
Men at Work

Maybe explains why I had to look that word up. Just because some of the movies on my list didn't have Sir Lawrence or the Duke doesn't mean they're not obscure classics that some of the younger generation has not seen before. Actually I make it a point to try and make my son watch some of these older classics to make sure he gets a well rounded edgimication. I mean, who goes through life without having ever seen The Golden Child?

Released in 1963- an epic war story of a German POW camp built to hold those who had escaped other camps. It has some great actors: Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson and James Coburn, etc.

As I recall Steve McQueen did many of his own stunts.

"The Golden Child is a 1986 American fantasy comedy film directed by Michael Ritchie and starring Eddie Murphy as Chandler Jarrell, who is informed that he is "The Chosen One" and is destined to save "The Golden Child", the savior of all humankind."

Go for it, dude.

It reminded me of 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop.

Those are a lot of fun.

The Great Escape was based on a number of real people, including Tokyo Jones, one of the Doolittle Raiders. The Richard Attenborough character was based on Roger Bushell, a Spitfire pilot shot down in 1940. He was murdered by the GESTAPO after being picked up after the escape.

I hated Timothy Hutton at the time because he dated Kirstie Ally and I didn't.
