After seeing him without his mask, I don't think I can look at this character the same way again.

If you rewatch episode V and VI, you'll see he does absolutely nothing cool in the films.

So the hype comes from books? I guess that would explain a lot. I've always heard people talk about how cool he was and just didn't get it.

My brother was really into the Star Wars books, and he bought one about the bounty hunters. They explained away the death of Boba Fett by saying his armor protected him and he managed to blast his way out of that beast that ate him or something like that.
I thought it was pretty lame, but that's Star Wars for you. I love it, but there are so many plot holes that get really shoddy patch work after the fact.
