Dude, you need to seriously recalibrate your filters. I asked you real questions to figure out whether I agree or disagree with it being a stupid trope, because I legitimately don't have any examples that come to mind. Your 21 example means little to me, because that movie is trash from start to finish. I watch a shite ton of movies. I'm awful at remembering specific quotes, character names, and minor details like how someone's intelligence is communicated to the audience in exposition. I don't think I'd have much success googling what you described in your op.

I'm sorry that I expected the guy who started the thread to be able to talk about the fricking subject. If you didn't want any responses, why'd you bring any of this up?

And if you're getting pissy with the one person here who took your topic seriously, asked for more info, and provided a possible explanation of why this trope exists, you must be a complete douchebag.
