great movie. I love the mixture of coming of age story with suspense/thriller elements.
I loved how they portrayed the father as stern, but fair and someone who really loved his son. So many movies portray poor southerners in a negative light, it was nice to see the opposite.
the music/score was great.
I really felt like I was back in Louisiana, it captured perfectly what it was like to be a kid in the south

Fair enough and he'd also been in Killer Joe, The Paperboy and Bernie before Mud but I think most people think of Mud or Magic Mike as his catapult to serious actor. Also Mud is a better movie than The Lincoln Lawyer.
