Robert A Heilein - Time for the Stars, though not a movie is a fascinating account of mankind's travel to planets around distant stars.

I liked Passengers .... of course, they didn't make it but they helped their passengers make it.
Prometheus .... someone already mentioned that one.
Heinlein and Joe B Haldeman both wrote some good books about travel to other planets.
I'm reading Old Man's War now which is fascinating and a completely different take on interstellar travel and colonization. Very unique with some slight Avatar flavor to it except better.
It's gotta be tough to make movies on these kinda books considering how hard it is to get the science right as well as the human issues even if they were to make the trip. I mean, you'd have to have a pathfinder make the trip first, gets things set up for the colonists, be able to communicate with home ..... the physics of it all make it all seem impossible as things stand now. Even SciFi writers can only make it up as they go - they really can't justify any of it and make it mesh with the science.
In that regard audiences are becoming more sophisticated and demanding if you ask them to employ suspension of disbelief and the only way to do that is to make super hero movies.
Settlers traveling to distant systems to colonize earthlike planets is not super hero worthy material although a couple of hundred years ago Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett and Louis and Clarke were all considered living breathing superheroes of their day.
Times have changed.
