No one will convince me that Williams was not the guy. There is just too much circumstantial evidence. From fibers to dog hairs to timelines to lack of alibis to criminal history to witness descriptions of him, etc.
He's the guy.
I bet the KKK copycatted in an opportunistic way for a few of the murders.

You missed the entire point. Part of the question is: "If a black kid goes missing in the late 70s, does anyone even give a frick? Would you even hear about it?"
I knew in this political climate, people were going to flip out about the subject matter, despite it being portrayed in such an honest way.
The premise is definitely the value of black children in America is not very high. Granted this is through the eyes of a 2019. That said, had to imagine it is revisionist history. Seems pretty obvious, and when you think about American Indian murders and Hispanic I think it is pretty obvious that they don't get the same level of coverage or resources allocated towards solving these cases.
BTW, rumors at the time, were the KKK or the police were responsible. When you frame this as occurring a decade after the Civil Rights movement it makes even more sense.

I'm listening to the podcast again. I completely forgot that one of the first victims was from Louisiana.

It's not. The media still to this day barely reports on missing black children.
Of all the bullshite about white nationalist, white supremacy, white privilege fricking blah, blah, blah, the one that thing that I can agree is the under reporting of missing black children by the media.
Picture Nancy Grace with a photo of a missing child and what does that child look like?

Huge fan of this show...I totally get the back stories of the main characters.. it will go a long way towards the ending of the show to keep viewers invested
I can imagine for season 3, Holdens ego gets in the way again since he was so on the money about Who Wayne Williams would be... BTK doesnt completely fill the surface profile they are putting together so I can imagine how tough it is to find him
It did bug me how much the Atlanta moms we’re so standoffish towards Holden considering he was the only one that would actually hear them out... I think it was a depiction of how the feds were viewed in that community as a whole.. just seemed that it was impossible to please them even in the slightest..
The Baltimore projects experiment was hysterical (if you’re not a cop, show your dick!) and sold me that the Atlanta killer was African American.. no way the KKK could abduct that many kids in broad day light and it was a good way to convey that both sides seemed like they wanted to just find someone to fit the profile of THIER OWN narrative.
Bills kid staring at the girl on the playground creeeeeeped me out.. half expected Nancy to find a dead raccoon in his room or something
You also have to hand it to whomever did the score for the show... the walkthrough of the crime scene Bill did in the vacant house, the BTK scenes, and the season finale title scenes were so chilling. Completely made the scenes for me

Agree. Whatever that little synth riff, or whatever it was, that would come up throughout the show when they were walking crime scenes and what not was fantastic

This may have been discussed already, but why was there blood on holden's shirt at in that last scene? I just feel like he's going to end up being a serial killer or something.

I thought that was just a stain from his spaghetti sauce

Anna Torvs character was mostly useless and boring in this season, in the last half I fast forwarded through the relationship scenes.

probably wanted to explore homosexuality in tandem with the research and how it was viewed in the late 70s early 80s.. but either way I don’t mind extensive character developments.. I think it just emotionally attaches viewers to characters wether it’s good or bad
And yeah I think it was just a stain from his food

I dont understand how some people just decide to fast forward through scenes in a show that they like and that they haven’t seen yet. That would drive me nuts, regardless of what show it was

Yeah that's what I can bet where they're going with that.
Does anyone know what Manson wrote in the book?

If I remember correctly is was something like "Each night as you sleep, I destroy the world." Followed by his signature. I replayed/paused it and had to get up to the TV to read it.

Agreed. It was to a point that do you want the guy caught or do you want a white man blamed for it.

Totally agree. Maybe they could sell this after 5 or 6 kids went missing with the KKK but after the 10th kid went missing that were all black, there is no way in hell a white man could come within a 100 yds of a black kid at that time.

Oh yeah. That was intentional for sure. I'm pretty sure that is not going to end well. Especially with Nancy saying the shite she did about he didn't come from her, etc....

Pat Benatar playing at the end of episode 8 was dope af.

Yea. Holden, Tench, and Carr each resemble one of the traits that they find in serial killers. Holden is the arrogant narcissist, Carr is homosexual, and Tench is dealing with the nature vs nurture aspect with his son.

Holy shite man. Nice break down. Very nice. Holden is unknowingly cocky for sure.
I love the way they show him just instincly breaking down certain instances and being dead fricking on.
Like him calling out his girlfriend for breaking up with him before she ever said it. Also him calling out Gregg for sending in the tape and making him admit it. fricking awesome!

If any of y'all are looking for anymore True Crime to listen to in the car on the way to work. 22 hours is a great one.
Almost too good. That shite has had me on edge. Son of a bitch. It's really fricked up to think this is all true. There was actually a thread on the OT about it when it first happened in 2015.

I listened to about 4 episodes of that. And it was pretty evident they caught the guy in the beginning. But then the race baiting angle came in. And everyone saying, "only white people are serial killers" type of BS. And "police were racist", bullshite. Maybe i need to finish it, but i couldn't listen to anymore of that.
Same here.
