It may be an act but I’ve seen a couple of interviews with him the past week and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. In each of the interviews, he went out of the way to make the interviewer feel important and he gave very thoughtful answers.

His AMA on Reddit today was great.

YEah, I saw that. Also listened to his interview on NPR and he just comes across as so gracious.
On the NPR interview, he knew the guy interviewing him was a huge fan of The Incredibles so he invitednthe interviewerr to come out to the studio on a day when he’s doing the score.

Yeah, Giacchino is world class and the true heir to John Williams. I think he’s the most gifted and diverse orchestrator of his generation. Just compare and contrast LOST, The Incredibles, and Coco. All the scores are completely different. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him or his music as a whole.
While Hans Zimmer should rightly win this year for Dunkirk, his work with Coco was spectacular.
And with LOST, I don’t see how you can make an argument that there’s a better soundtrack to a series. Even Game of Thrones I don’t think really comes close. Season 6 was actually pretty relieving that they finally tried new themes, since those had been missing since Season 2. LOST constantly went for broke on its soundtrack, even to its detriment when there was a scene in Season 6 where Giacchino played over a piano solo of a character, which was fricking insane.
