Red Dragon was basically a cash grab because Hopkins wasn't the original Lecter and Manhunter wasn't a box office success.
Norton was bland and Keitel was miscast.
Fiennes and Hoffman were good, as was the scene where Graham catches Lecter. That's it.

Yep, I had hoped it was in Manhunter as well, but that scene would have been out of place in Manhunter, much like the color hues and soundtrack would have been out of place in Red Dragon.

Noonan was very good. He’s in some very interesting independent films. And shows up in supporting roles in some relatively major releases.

Manhunter/Red Dragon is the one Lecter book/movie(s) entry I haven't seen or read.
It's been a long time since watching or reading Lambs. Was Dollarhyde the former patient that Lecter talks to Starling about and sends her to the storage place where his car and stuff is?

No that was Benjamin Raspail’s head. Raspail was a patient of Lecter that introduced Buffalo Bill to Lecter. Raspail (iirc) was the last known victim of Lecter before he was captured.
Lecter killed him because he was in the Baltimore orchestra and Lecter thought his playing sucked haha.
That’s where Red Dragon picks up with the orchestra and having served Raspail’s sweet breads to the orchestra crew eating at his house.

William Peterson should have had a leading man career. He was that good. But whatever, he made bank with CSI.
