Finished binging it a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was very good, especially for a network show and for the time it was done.

Great acting from both the cast and from recurring and guest stars, good storylines and moved pretty briskly.

Was worth the watch IMO.

It's one of the best shows ever made and was at the forefront of the TV serial drama revolution.

Seasons 5 and 6 were kindof a slog, for a variety of reason, but the final season really brought it all back.

Which revolution was that? The one that the Sopranos started the previous season or the one ER started five years earlier or the one NYPD Blue started a couple of years before that?

Great show.

Season's 1-4 were top notch. I did enjoy the 7th season very much also.

The one that saw big name Hollywood actors opt for the small screen. The Sopranos was on a premium channel available in a small fraction of homes and got to play by a different set of rules. The West Wing's production values blow the doors off the other two you listed. Surprised you didn't mention Hill Street Blues.

Hill Street Blues was a very good show. Sopranos seemed to be good but I didn't watch that much of it back then. Wasn't it on HBO or one of the premium channels? I don't remember really anything about ER so I guess it didn't have an impact on me. Same with NYPD Blues.

Still, I think that HSB, Sopranos and WW would be be fine as being included in "the forefront".

So, Spin City. No, that was three years earlier. Never mind.

Well, neverminding the fact that Spin City was a sitcom, Michael J. Fox was obviously no stranger to TV.

Other than the side argument over words like "forefront" and concepts like "serial dramas," what is your opinion on the show? Liked it? Hated it? Enjoyed some aspects?

It was good for a season or two but after a while Sorkin’s penchant for making everyone an amazing off-the-cuff orator grew old. It ceased being grounded in reality, which was the case with his series that followed.

best show featuring walking down a hallway and trading fast, quippy, witty remarks probably ever.

I fizzled out after season 3

It's one of those M/TV board sacred cows. Its good but some guy said he had watched the entire series 10 times. I mean holy shite dude that's an insane amount of your life spent watching the same thing over and over.

Adam Alda was good.

But that Santos/Vinick electoral map was interesting.

Best network drama ever, by a mile. Had Sorkin not left it may have been the greatest show regardless of what channel in aired.
