It is very underrated. Aaron Sorkin would go on to create The West Wing with many elements from this movie. Even the proportionate response episode stemmed from this. The French president is named in West Wing so continues that continuity.

Are we not counting the 90s weirdo flop, North, as a major film? It was definitely a repeat blockbuster rental when I was a kid.

1. Spinal Tap
2. Princess Bride
3. When Harry Met Sally
4. Misery
5. The Sure thing
6. Stand by Me
7. A Few Good Men
8. The American President
9. North

Never got around to the Brooks doc. Will watch Spinal Tap 2 this weekend.

For me how is it not the Princess Bride. To this day it is the only movie that has ever done nearly every genre you could want in one movie

Fantasy
Romance
Action
Drama
Suspense
Comedy
Horror

Princess Bride has all of that and does it well. Accompany that with a Fantastic cast. Just hard to beat. It's not my personal favorite, but that is just a personal preference. I do think it's the closest anyone has ever gotten to a perfect movie. Even now thinking on it I can't think of one scene that I can criticize.

I won't lie I was shocked to find out (or rather remembered) that he made a couple of these movies.

Stand by Me is a top 5 movie for me.
