You can't just flat out say it sucked and "nobody tried", "it's incoherent"...like Rex Reed and a few others have self aggrandizingly have done. It seems pretty disingenuous on the part of a few select critics.

yes you can. Nolan can't motivate an entire cast. "nobody tried/going through the motions is actually a common criticism when you are talking about the third in a trilogy.

I'm going see TDK at 9 tomm and have tickets for the midnight IMAX showing, so I am far from a hater and very excited to see this movie. The assumption that critics are just promoting themselves or "self aggrandizing" from people who havent even seen the movie is blind self-delusion

Yes. Does that ruin your next point?

I already explained my point about RS; it's not relevant except to say the Reed guy isnt credible

Not at all. If you have, which you haven't, you are more than free to disagree with critics. Happens all the time just in case you didn't know.

Regardless, whether you saw it or not, it in no way gives you the ability to know whether or not a critic is being honest about a negative review or not.

The fact that people are calling out critics for negative reviews with no basis for their own opinion just make them fanboys

Just because he liked 1 movie and didn't like another that makes him not credible. Seems a strange stance to take

And I quote, "the review he gave it could have easily been written for TDKR (good cast and crew, solid entertainment)". that was his basis for rating RS positively; if that is his criteria, TDKR qualifies.

Not that he liked one movie and didn't like the other.

Damn, you uncovered my ruse.

Rex Reed (did everyone know he went to LSU) is notorious for being contrarian and self serving in his reviews. To me he's basically the white Armond White. Accusing how many Oscar winners/nominees of phoning it in on a $250 million project seems like it rings false to me. If it makes perfect sense to you because that's a common criticism of the third installment of trilogies...ok.

You haven't seen the movie how do you know TDKR qualifies?

Even if you see it then disagree, well taste in movies is subjective, one person can feel one way and a 2nd person the opposite.

Ever seen Robin Hood? BoxOffice Mojo says it had a $200 million production budget and I'll tell you right now, that multiple Oscar winner/nominee Russel Crowe phoned that movie in.

But maybe I'm just saying that to get clicks on my post and "self aggrandize" myself.

ETA and Robin Hood was directed by Ridley Scott, who knows a little thing about filmmaking as well.

Are you saying that it's uncommon for the last movie in a series like Spider-man, Transformers, or X-men to receive that style of criticism? Were those critics who saud that just trying to bring attention to themselves?

For the last time...it's not the score, it's what is written.

Yeah, Robin Hood kinda sucked. And yeah, trilogies generally blow by the last installment. You seem like you're bent about what I said like he's not welcome to hate the movie...he most definitely is.

I guess my umbrage comes from he just sounds like any other, cunty Internet blogger trying to be the loudest/most obnoxious of the dissenters...because yes, as a film critic, it is about promoting your readership above all the other clutter.

I wouldn't say excited, I'd say...guardedly optimistic. I could see it working with The Rock.

This is exactly what I am trying to say. It's not that they are saying its bad and in most cases not what they are saying sucks about it.

It is HOW they do it. Criticism is a tricky thing. We all hate critics but we rely on them for movie going opinions. So I think it is something that should e done with a high degree of professionalism. I really like Jaime Kennedy's documentary about it...worth a look
