Not sure if you watched The Wire when it aired but there was very little critical acclaim.

The older woman playing the leader was such a natural.

That actress also played Cousin Eddie’s wife in the original Vacation. “Eddie says I can quit one of my night jobs after the baby comes.”

there’s no way in hell this show would make in this generation.

Huh? The latest season just came out like a year ago and the very first skit was LD picking on gay lesbian stereotypes by not holding the door open for certain types so as not be offensive

The request was

quote:

Show me something that's close to this sketch

And I did. And it that came a decade after that one.

Variety shows today go a hell of a lot harder than the Snicker parody and Mad TV's my white mama.

This myth that television of yesteryear pushed the envelope and that television today is so soft is horseshite.

This very thread is trying to put Curb Your Enthusiasm over as one of these shows that wouldn't work today..... a show that's still being produced today.

The 10th season premieres next year. This whole "this show wouldn't make it today" myth is getting played out.
You’ll never change the minds of the “society is going to shite” sky screamers.

The argument was that they wouldn't show a sketch like that today and you link a sketch from a decade ago. Surely you're not that dense.

Certainly you have seen a Comedy Central roast.

Don't be naive.

Last episode I watched he immediately assumed a Muslim was a terrorist. He won’t be making those types of jokes in the new season. Understand context.

Have you seen the most recent season? It's aired a little over a year ago, and I think it's fair to say he was flirting with provoking actual real life trouble from some muslims not twitter outrage.

He gets a lot more likable as the show goes on

I thought the opposite. I thought Larry was way more likable in the early seasons. It seemed like everyone he argued with was mentally challenged or something. In the later seasons he is just straight up an a-hole.

Most amazing part of that series was how they got so many one time roles to be played just perfectly--with little or no writing involved. This episode is a fabulous example of that.
