He also did scores for other movies such as Cool Hand Luke and Dirty Harry. However, the theme song from the Mission: Impossible TV show might just be his most famous tune:

I loved his intro theme for Magnum Force. Great composer.

Although not a film I want to watch numerous times over and over for many reasons, Cool Hand Luke may may be one of the five or 10 best films ever made, and Schifrin's score is one of the large reasons why (as well as Conrad Hall's cinematography, the acting, writing, directing, etc, etc, etc.)

Its a complete masterpiece. Beutiful. Ethereal. Haunting.

Side note - Larry Mullen, Jr and Adam Clayton (Drummer and Bassist for U2) adapted and recorded the Mission Impossible movie theme from the original TV version.
