26 short mins, put it in the background and learn something new

"it took 7 years to realize a profit from Clerks, a film that only took us $27,000 to make"

Listening...

People can say whatever about his films and skills as a filmmaker but they can't deny that he is an exceptional public speaker and great storyteller.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of his films at this point, but I am glad he has been around. His speaking/ standup stuff is entertaining and I at least like the majority of his movies.

Interesting that he is doing a tour for Red State. It is in New Orleans March 26th.

I saw the trailer for Red State, then saw who directed it and then I said 'hmm'.

Kevin also said that the next movie that he makes will be his last as a director. It's a hockey comedy.

Hockey as in the sport. It's based on the Warren Zevon song Hit Somebody

I just saw the trailer. At First I thought a horror version of Red Dawn, Communist take over. Then I saw imdb's
"Set in Middle America, a group of teens receive an online invitation for sex, though they soon encounter fundamentalists with a much more sinister agenda."

the whole Red state/Blue state bullshite. The story won't be believable, and will flop.

The guy has the maturity of a 12 year old and lambasts filmmakers that he doesn't belong within a 50 mile radius of.

I wish his fat, cry baby arse and his gen-x followers would go away and never reappear from their basements.

Interesting speech.

I heard somewhere that he had tried to shop it around and that no one would pick it up and that's why he distributing it this way. If that's true, I'll at least give him credit for an ingenious way of keeping his film alive.

Some of the early reviews sound about what I would figure. Good idea, not-the-best execution.

The story of his career.

I think he's far more valuable at this point as a speak and, for lack of a better word, media mogul, than as a director. He just doesn't have anything to say in his movies anymore, but he has a lot of interesting stuff to say about the business. Less Jersey Girl, more Smodcast.

Any idea how much it will cost to go to one of these advanced screenings? I can't find any info on that.

That's why I want to go the Red State screening. I don't necessarily want to see the movie as much as I want to hear Smith talk.
