"War of the Rats" is the name of the novel that "Enemy at the Gates" is based on. Excellent novel. Most movies f'up the sniper thing so badly. Shooter was an abomination when you consider it was based on the first novel in an excellent Stephen Hunter series. Had they actually chosen to follow the plot of the first novel the possibilities of follow on movies would have been awesome.

Enemy at the Gates is actually in pretty rarified air as the best sniper movie IMO.

Point of Impact was awesome but Dirty White Boys was my favorite of the Steven Hunter series.

The shoot out in the tattoo parlor was one of the best "gunfight' scenes written IMO

Comes on TCM tonight at 9 p.m. Central.

Angela Lansbury is the mother again but Lawrence Harvey is no where near as fine as Sue Lyon.

Janet Leigh does spend some time on a train with old blue eyes:

This thread makes me realize there aren't a lot of (good) sniper movies out there. Loved Enemy at the Gates though.
