If you were borne of people that have lived in Arizona, you probably have a bit more color than people in Cleveland. You also had the slave trade which moved women across Eurasia (wait, slavery before the USA???) which diversified the gene pool. However, it is a question worth asking why areas which has invasions from the Ottomans and other Arabs still have similar complexions (olive tinged skin, dark hair, etc.) to nearly any country that surrounds the Med. It wasn't just conquer and pillage. I would strongly argue that it was primarily the natural flow and migration of people to where economic opportunity drove them in an area that was easily crossed by boat (and relatively easy) by caravan. Saladin's campaigns didn't last for tens of generations.
