If they keep Gunn can they get rid of Tom King?

Mopey pathetic non-heroic leads in therapy-porn story arcs, where the "hero" only needs to overcome some mental illness or emotional trauma in order to climax the story.
Action, spectacle, villain, and engaging dialogue are all superfluous unless directly serving the above.
That is all Tom King knows, and all he does. It is forgivable the first time, eyeroll inducing every time after.
3 things he worked on:
-Superman (allegedly the whole "he's here to bang your women and conquer" was his primary input)
-Supergirl
-Lanterns
Dude has 1 note, and he beats it to absolute death.
Even if you enjoyed all of the above, you are going to get exhausted seeing the exact same framework happen every single project.
Without King, I think Gunn could probably turn it around.

I believe a lot if it is Gunn. He always wants to put the focus on fringe characters rather than the mainstream ones. Look at Guardians and Peacemaker, most people had no idea who or what they were. Now I am not saying he didn’t do a good job with both, because I thoroughly enjoyed both, and Guardians is one of my favorite Marvel movies. It is like that is what he was or is into and takes away the focus from main characters that everyone knows. Just my 2 cents.

If Gunn stays, I'm sure there will be tons of changes with the rest of the team. My prediction has always been that Ellison will offer him to continue making Superman and JL films, he just won't run all of DC.

I watched Super Girl the other day now that it's on HBO. It was better than the Super Man movie, which isn't saying much because that movie sucked.

He ices beloved characters early, so he can make it trauma center of the now non-heroic, languishing lead.
Somehow you never hear Gail Simone call it fridging, though (Though Oberon was cancer, he is one of dozens) alHow uniquely odd.
