The Shield has the best pilot of all.

haven't seen GoT, but I'd put the Shield ahead of BB by a hair

I'd also mention Nip/Tuck, that was a great pilot.

Walking Dead pilot was fantastic, one of the best ever. The scenes with Rick waking up and discovering this new world is the high point of the series.

Game of Thrones - another great pilot, but there have been several episodes better than the pilot.

Breaking Bad - The best TV series of all time started with a good but not great pilot.

True Detective - compelling but very slow developing pilot, following episodes were fantastic until the very end.

I watched the pilot for GoT and it was terrible. I haven't continued the show because the pilot didn't interest me.

In that order.

The Wire's pilot deserves consideration.

GoT is a slower start than Breaking Bad, and that's fairly tough to do.

It may be blasphemous, but even an ended-up-crap-show like Heroes had a better pilot than BB and GoT. But I don't think shows have to start fast, they have to get going at some point though.

Yes. The speech he gives over the intercom is so awesome.

Yep. Best pilot of the last 5 years.. Unique set up with the interviews and flashback /forward technique. Too bad the finale was the opposite..

The Director's Cut of Glee's pilot is really good as well.

And with this post you lose any chance of support from me in future TWD threads.
