How can anyone watch this movie and think to themselves "we have got to give this guy his own trilogy"

Boggles the mind

Liking a movie and it being good are two different things.

I love every second of those godawful Japanese Godzilla movies. Doesn’t make them good.

Well supposedly people don’t like it because it takes such risks, they hate change and want the same thing...if that were true, they would love the movie

Seeing as Star Wars isn’t original from the beginning I’ve found this entire debate pointless since New Hope is a blatant rip off of the heroes journey.

Star Wars is an homage that creates an amalgamation of classic tropes

The new movies are direct rip offs

You're beginning to make me think I don't enjoy anything Star Wars related anymore. Maybe I never did. Total mind-blower. What were we thinking?

Denial of what?? I never exclaimed this is the greatest SW movie ever. In fact I've been very conflicted in my opinion. I saw things that worked and saw things that really didn't ... Finn/Rose was the biggest glaring example.. But just b/c one is able to pull parallels from other films doesn't mean it was a rehash.. Hell you could do that with several different movies.. The tone and delivery is what is vastly different for this installment..

Every sequel should be derivative of the original especially if the original touted balance and restoration as a major theme.
