my absolute favorite role of his is as the battalion commander in Jarhead. he absolutely nails that part, and i say that as a Marine officer who is extremely critical of how Marines and Marine culture are usually portrayed in the movies. whoever prepped him for that part almost certainly had to have been a Marine officer himself. the cadence he speaks with, his selective use of profanity, his humor - it's all perfect.
