I'm not even going to edit that I went completely opposite of what I meant.

There’s been a big shake-up inside House of the Dragon: The HBO fantasy drama’s co-showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik is stepping down from the freshly launched hit series.

Sources say Sapochnik is exiting the show after pouring an exhausting three years of effort into the Game of Thrones prequel. Dragon co-creator Ryan Condal will now serve as the show’s sole showrunner and continue to work closely with co-creator George R.R. Martin. Sapochnik has also entered into a first-look deal with HBO to develop new projects and will remain an executive producer for the duration of the series.

They’re apparently bringing in Alan Taylor though. Who had a big hand in S1 of GOT and directed the S1 finale if I remember correctly.

Miguel's involvement with this was what I was excited for the most. He was the one who actually told D&D their season 8 scripts were dog shite

GOT episodes Alan Taylor has directed:

1x09 Baelor

1x10 Fire and Blood

2x01 The North Remembers

2x02 The Night Lands

2x08 The Prince of Winterfell

2x10 Valar Morghulis

7x06 Beyond the Wall

Yeah, GOT season 8 really went limp. Good to see a rise in quality with HOTD

Sounds like he's staying on as an executive producer, so he should still have some input.

That's a pretty solid slate too.

late to the party. but, in the preview, did the king and his new wife already have a baby?

do we get to see the dragons battle each other? That would be fun!

the king mentioned "sending him to the wall" so, the wall already exists? Forgive my ignorance but i didn't read the books.

otto does seem to be a guy who will play both sides and go with whoever has the most power.

i agree the king made his wife choice so he can try to produce an heir sooner. I remember in GOT Joffery was going to have to wait until Sansa "flowered".

also, even though it seems to be "ok" in that world marrying a 12 year old doesn't sound like much fun at all.

Daemon seems almost "joffery-ish". Talks a lot of shite and is all kinds of brave when the odds are in his favor.

*Spoilers from the Episode 3 Preview below*

Season 1, Episode 3 Preview for HoD (HBO YouTube)

Yes. With the way it is cut (and from what we see and hear Otto say), it appears it is Aegon II.

Otto himself says in the trailer "The road ahead is uncertain, but the end is clear. Aegon will be king."

Per next week's preview, you'll at least a dragon burning shite up at what I assume is the Stepstones (where the Crabfeeder is). Beyond that? We don't know yet.

Yes. Legend says Bran the Builder built the Wall and it's been around for roughly 8,000 years at the time of Game of Thrones (which is about 200-ish years after House of the Dragon). The Night's Watch is pretty well established and folks have been actively sent there by this point as well.

the crab feeder is a pretty gruesome character. kind of hoping they do some kind of back story to show how he becomes what he is.
