Late 1980's, David Mamet's first film-

ON IFC TONIGHT

great story that will have you guessing and surprised. I think it is over a 90 on rotten tomatoes.

On my DVR.

It's the movie that got us on the Mamet bandwagon.

Very good noirish thriller about conning and grifting. Well directed, well filmed, crisp dialog what's not to like.

I haven't seen that movie in a long time, I thought it was good, but the main woman was horrible.

That was Mamet's wife at the time, Lindsay Crouse. I have to say, I like Rebecca Pidgeon much better!

I like this movie a lot, but it does suffer a little from the typical Mamet syndrome of too much "right place, right time".

Interesting sidebar, I watched it right after I first moved to Seattle and though it looked like Seattle (including the scenes in the courtyard). Turns out it was filmed in Seattle, and that courtyard is the courtyard inside an old VA hospital - which is now the headquarters of Amazon.com and sits high on a hill like a haunted house. Pretty cool looking.

ETA: Also, it has Ricky Jay. So far, only one bad movie with Ricky Jay has ever been made, and that's Boogie Nights.

Love Mamet directed and/or written scripts, Joe Montegna films,etc..

Have House Of Games, Things Change, Glengary Glenross,etc..on DVD.

Lindsay Crouse was great in this film. Also the late JT Walsh was great in this film, Grifters, Good Morning Vietnam,etc..
