First season was really good, second season was bad. I gave up like 2 episodes into season 3... what eventually happens?

It's been a while. Season 3 sucked so I blew through it as quick as I could. John I think his name is. Nothing good happened to him or anyone else in the show except for Meg as she got the hell out. A bunch of characters died and the others including Meg faded into oblivion. Remember while Danny was a pricke, John exercised poor brotherly judgment. It all went downhill when he killed Danny. How could it have done anything else? And Kevin was a loser from the get-go. The long arm of the law finally caught up with him. In the end, John was suffering from a full mental breakdown on his own as his wife and kids moved out. And there were an awful lot of alcoholics including most of the Rayburn clan.
