I’ve never heard anyone say, “Have a catch” outside of this movie.

Never understood why this was such a contentious dispute.

Play catch? Toss the the ball? What's the proper?

I think as adults, and a dead father, it would sound weird on film to say...lets play catch. I mean, Kevin isn't 12 years old.

Lets have a catch is the adult and more movie decision. That's all. It sounded more adult.

It's not a Yankee thing, whatever that means for a National sport. I mean this movie was made in the 1990s, not 1865.

The scene is about father vs. son and reconciliation, never understood why people focused on this turn of phtase.

Because it sticks out like a sore thumb, as FK says, never heard it. And I lived in Boston for awhile, nada. Wondering if scene or phrase is in the book.

Just play "play catch" like normal people.

I just don't think its a Southern vs. Northern vs. West thing.

Just think it was a movie thing. I think it sounded better to them on paper as two adults. Its not a big deal in movie lore It's not like his Dad dropped the ball on purpose.
