Paimon. He went from Charlie to the mom to Peter

I'm glad you said that, it didn't even occur to me that Paiman had possessed the mom when the dad died

Her face went from horrified to a truly evil grin

That was supposed to signify Paiman's possession

I totally did not get this movie, liked the sound effects/music, but the ending was almost laughable, like you just robbed me of my time and money. Sorry, I know it has high ratings, and some on here loved it, but just not for me. The only time I even jumped a little was after peter saw the naked gramps and the girl ran across the room. Pitiful, oh well....

What exactly were you expecting the ending to be? It was pretty obvious throughout the movie that it was about a demon or demon possession and that’s exactly what it was

Jumped scares aren’t the only way to scare people...

Thought it was very good up until the ending. Extremely creepy. Loved the tone, the score, and the long, slow camera shots. Made it a very tense movie. But the ending was a little disappointing for me

I'd be surprised if Toni Collette doesn't get an Emmy nomination

She deserves an Academy Award nomination for her performance. She basically carried the entire film. Someone asked me if it was really scary. I was hesitant to say yes, because I found it to be more disturbing than scary, although there were several scary scenes. The title of the film could refer to the horror of the family’s history of emotional problems as well as their satanic pact. I knew it was gonna get bad when Annie found the note from her mother telling her that all her pain, which she had yet to experience, would be worth it in the end.

That was quite possibly the worst movie I've ever subjected myself to in theaters. I don't understand how it's so well reviewed. I was ready to boo the end credits.

I really liked the movie until the last 5 or so minutes. Not necessarily what the ending was but how it was handled. Went completely silly and ruined any lingering creep out feelings I had.
When she floated up to the treehouse headless, that was it for me. I actually laughed. It’s a shame because I was born really sad and pretty freaked out for the rest of the movie.
