No, you don't. Spectrum doesn't have HBO Max with an HBO subscription. We dropped HBO and use HBO Max through my AT&T cell service.

We're just waiting on the Samsung (Amazon) TV to add the app.

Say what!? It's now $65/mo. for youtube tv, add in your internet fee, and you're back where you started with cable. For live sports I've got a ota indoor antenna for $20 that picks up my local CBS/ABC in 4k, and will subscribe to Sling Orange for $30/mo. during football season for ESPN channels.
