That makes a lot of sense. I would like to see LF and Varys meet a horrible end, but I doubt it happens. I really don't think it was a coincidence Varys left last episode when did. I hope Tyrion pieces it together, but I feel bad for him actually seeming like he trusted him this go around.

It'll probably be LF behind the Starks meeting Varys behind the Targs.

It's going to happen eventually, but Varys and LF are the endgame villains of the series even over the Others. Varys maybe not as much on the show, but I definitely see LF making it to the final season before paying for his sins.
In the novels, I really think over everything, it's going to come down to Tyrion vs Varys vs Littlefinger. When Dany arrives in Dragonstone, I think Varys will control the South and LF will control the North, Vale, and Riverlands. When the Others break through the Wall, Tyrion knows that LF and Varys will do nothing to stop them, and it is through defeating the Others that Tyrion will win the War with Varys and LF.

I know I've been beating this dead horse, but do people really see LF following Jon Snow? Jon is LF's worst nightmare in an opponent: a politically savvy Ned Stark. I just don't see him not trying to kill him.

LF will continue to play the game. Pledging allegiance does that. It's easier in the books because book Jon is dumber than show Jon.

I like that...I think it makes sense for the Highborn end game...I would like Tyrion to make it to the end and actually get some comeuppance like that. I always found his and Jon's chapters to be the most intriguing. I'm still finishing my second go through with the books. The Northern houses really need to get their shite together on the show...this North Remembers bs is failing on the show. I don't think I have been this pumped for an episode

Ad a non reader, I have a question for you, due to your extensive knowledge of the Crannogmen and their most famous leader, the High...um...Howland Reed.
Are they like an elite force of Frogmen, like Westerosi Navy Seals or closer to Lord Glen of House Guist or as the truth so often is, somewhere in the middle?
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

But he won't be able to manipulate Jon. Any leader he can't manipulate is no good for LF. That's a major reason he disposes of Ned at that exact time. I can't see Jon heeding LF's council whatsoever. And it won't be difficult to convince the Vale Lords to kill him after letting the Wildlings through the Wall and breaking his vows to the Night's Watch.
And honestly, I don't think book Jon will meet book LF. Book LF's beef is with Sansa and Tyrion, not Jon. In the show Jon has Sansa and has started playing her against him.

I have a funny feeling the Tyrells will have a big role next Season if Margaery and Loras Tyrell are casualties in Episode 10.
Maybe then Highgarden will at least warrant a spot on the map at the intro since we will probably never see it on the show.

He doesn't have to manipulate him he just has to think he is

I think Jon is more savvy than that and won't put up with his shite. LF also knows this. When has LF ever been played?
Posted on 6/18/16 at 11:47 pm to OMLandshark
Or it could be Sansa pulling the strings behind Jon in effect pulling a LF

Less like hard arse SEALS and more like sneaky spy/saboteur types. They're small by nature and like less than honorable means to fight like poison and blow darts. That's why they have a shitty reputation as weak and opportunistic fighters. It's not totally clear in the books how howland saved ned against Arthur Dayne, but it probably wasn't brute force.
He's less likely to fight straight up and more likely to pose as a pope-like figure and exact revenge through long game sneaky shite.
Sorry for the rambling answer, I've been drinking.

HS=HR would also answer the whole - - how do you communicate HoJ to the masses- who better to pitch a messiah like figure to the people of Kings Landing than the High Septon

How did he break his vows- you join until death, he died thus he's discharged.

The book doesn't have him stabbing Ser Dayne in the back like the ToJ flashback Bran showed us?

Interesting theory. Maybe you càn expound on that....some other time.

Yeah that is the most sensical way to do it, in my humble opinion. But my biggest question is if HS=/=HR, then what's howland doing all these years? All the northern lords raise their banners but howland is content to let his kids go on an ambiguously defined mission based on his son's acid trip and stay home himself?
I really hope it's true but if it does turn out to be correct, then I'm pretty sure the admins will preemptively ban me because of how big an a-hole I will be about it.

How many people are going to believe he actually rose from the dead? I'd venture to say almost no one outside of the Night's Watch and the Red Priests. They're just going to think he survived a coup, and actually one that was called for by letting the Wildlings through.
