While nearly every movie has been delayed in wake of the pandemic, Warner Bros. has taken the unusual step of releasing “Godzilla vs. Kong” two months earlier than expected.

The legendary monsters will face off on March 26, instead of May 21, in theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max.

Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind “Godzilla vs. Kong,” recently engaged in a public spat with Warner Bros., threatening to take legal action over the studio’s decision to send all of its 2021 movies to HBO Max on the same day they debut in theaters. Legendary was frustrated, in part because Warner Bros. had previously blocked Netflix’s $250 million bid to buy the monster movie. However, the two companies have reportedly hashed out frustrations and settled on a release strategy that satisfied both partie

And in a theatre is where I'll watch it!!!

They'd better get that trailer out fast then! Just over 2 months to go!

They probably bought a bunch of tv spots for the playoffs and are going balls deep on advertising now. Hope my Regal theater is open for this.

Sounds like they think its a bomb and want to get it out now so they can write it off due to the pandemic.

Does seem counterintuitive, with the current spike in ChinaVirus, but then again, only 2 months out, they really won't have to sink that much advertising $ into the movie, and likely got a good deal with HBO-Max, so who knows?

Originally scheduled for May of 2020, but in 2019 it got moved back to November of 2020. Then Wuhan flu hit.

Highly unlikely. Regal is in a world of hurt and I don't think they have plans on reopening anytime soon. AMC is still hanging on by a thread.

Umm, the new footage... what there is of it, leaves some with a bit of concern.

To the point, no way could BOTH monsters stand on any AC carrier, and Kong is simply way too damn big. Even 2 x's the size of Skull Island Kong, he still should be noticeably shorter than Godzilla.

But we'll see, sooner than later. They've had almost a full year to 'fix' things, so this had better be worth it.

I don't think they're standing on it Godzilla is clearly behind it and Kong seems to be jumping

Looks to me like both are standing on the deck.
