Perhaps during the next major superhero reboot, they can establish a character as unequivocally hetero sexual.

Wasn't the concept largely borrowed/stolen from the myths of the Amazons? The full citizens of whom were all women.
And they died out, for what should be obvious reasons.
Comics are generally intended to be the fodder of young boys, and given the proclivities of WW's creator, I'd say this island was intended to be pussy Xanadu rather than a conclave of hard dykes.
