She showed multiple times in the show, she cared more for others than her own safety, and this was one of them. She took off her band so it didn't get the full radiation of the exposure of her going to save the other guy, so it didn't show up when she got back to base. She knew she was going to get it, but didn't want anyone to know so she could keep flying.

Season 5 of this show jumped the shark for sure. Stupid plot lines and poor writing.
Two weeks of food lasts months, and even with rationing there is corn dancing and good times. Also create uniform patches.
This is worse than Marshall's writing.

Stop after S2 or S3
The alternate history for the space race and the moon stuff is interesting, but it kind of runs out of steam unless you’re really into living in space or Mars colonization.

I watched through all of. I enjoyed it. I don't think it's all that good. I think they've probably kept it around for too long.
