The books took that route also. Yeah Uhtred would sometimes talk about being old…as he stands in the shield wall killing 25 year old men in combat

Are you saying an older man can't kill a younger man, especially when the older lord is more experienced in battle and surrounds himself with his best fighters?

I see they’re sticking with the “let’s just not age the main cast and hope people don’t care” route.

For the non book readers, old Uhtred is basically narrating all of the books like he’s telling a story. He makes a lot of side comments about his current life and is hilarious.

He has another wife he barely knows and can’t really stand, he makes fun of the singers and priests, etc.

Book Uhtred is absolutely hilarious. A truly great character.

I don't mind the actor and he has done a good job with the role, he just doesn't match the book description of a larger man. Also, not much they can do with aging him up. I made my piece with the fact that running a show on the life of uhtred has limitations that the book didn't.

In a show featuring overall GREAT casting, Uhtred is horribly miscast. He does not fit at all.

He was like 70 in the front line of the shield wall. It took a lot of belief suspension to make the time line work.

Cornwell wanted to finish the books at the battle of Brunanburh. Which is fine as long as you ignore his age. I mean he was an adult fighting for King Alfred. Then he’s still fighting for Alfred adult grandson lol, 45 years later

This is the weirdest prequel to a hs movie (John Tucker Must Die) that I’ve ever seen.

Anyone downvoting me for this comment has not read the books. Book Uhtred is violent, belligerent, not especially handsome, bigger and taller than most, and just overall menacing. He did have a sense of humor. Everyone feared him.

Show Uhtred lacked the physicality and convincing belligerence. Too short, too pretty, too soft spoken.
