Seriously looks like an average episode of Xena: Princess Warrior.

I don't remember Xena having effects like that.

When did teasers for the trailers become a thing? Was it The Hunger Games who started this craze or was it Twilight?

I haven't seen anything that hasn't looked great so far. Tone, Cinematography, and Production Quality all there from what I've seen. Here's to hoping

The majority of DC's trailers look good......then the movie comes out. That's where the problem is.

Well...to be fair...Xena had a low cable budget...

And I only watched the first clip...

And you have to admit...that looked straight Xena...with a George Lucas re-cgi effect.

But again, the pre-trailers are nothing but nothing...still looks pretty bad.

It's still probably gonna be a massive flop. Ashley Judd won't even march on this.

I think Wonder Woman will be ok, not expecting much from Justice League. I'm excited for Aquaman thou.

it will "only" make $800 million but still be considered a flop because it didn't make $1.5 billion

No way this thing makes 800 million. 600 to 700 tops. If it gets bad reviews, which it probably will, 500 to 600.

If this film can hold the quality and feel of the trailers- I think it can hit over a billion. This has all the elements of the "hero's journey"- similar to Star Wars and the Matrix- and the comic origin from 75 years ago. Very Joseph Campbell. If the quality is there and Gadot can carry it emotionally- going to be huge. Chris Pine really seems to anchor the story to the audience. We shall see. I saw some reactions from kids and it looks to be promising.

Because kid's are a great barometer for quality.

Why else do you think the MCU has been such a hit?

It's also been it's detriment in later years. Outside of Strange, Guardians and the Captain America movies, all of the sequels are bland, safe, and formulaic.

For "family friendly" movies...yes they are. DCEU has taken a decidedly "darker, fanboy" tack so far...this is return to the classic "Richard Donner" mold of something for everyone. I also think you are vastly underestimating the cultural relevance the character has as oppposed to just about any of the Marvel or DC characters that came before. I enjoyed Man of Steel and the darker/alien/fear trope- but Snyder missed his cue leaving out the inspiration. I have more faith in what I've seen and Patty Jenkin's direction than anything else the DCEU has done. If this gets good critical response its a game changer. The possibility this might be well received is really eating at some you girls.
