I really enjoy the Halloween movies. I always root for Jason, thinking he'll start seeing the value in someone's life, like right after he met his sister.

You don't pay attention to the movies do you?

After he killed her when he was 6-years old?

I meant the recent one, where he showed her the picture, and was all sweet. Then she freaked out and hit him with something, and he started chasing her.

I'm still rooting for him, even though he never shows signs of compassion. WHenever he was about the kill the janitor that was protective of his masks, I hoped he would put down the tv. But, nope.

Okay, let me attempt to straighten this out. First of all, it is Michael Myers in the Halloween movies (with the exception of part 3, which is a sore subject for many fans of the Halloween series)--not Jason. And although he killed his older sister in the opening of the first movie, it was later revealed in the second movie that Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) was also Michael's sister. Hope this clears it up.

ETA: Never mind. He was talking about the remake.

You know his name's not Jason, right?

1. Black Christmas (1974) (Arguably, the First Slasher)

Black Christmas along with De Palma's slashers like Sisters, Dressed to Kill and Body Double owe a big debt to the Italian Giallo slashers of the 60s & 70s.

Movies like Blood and Black Lace & The Bird with the Crystal Plumage are amongst my favorites.

I watched Dario Argentino's "Susperia," but I really didn't enjoy it too much. Because of that, I didn't check out any of the other Italia Giallo slashers. I may go back and give some of these movies a chance, including the ones you listed.

ETA: And I have not seen De Palma's "Sisters" yet, but that's on my list.

Suspiria is not so much Giallo as it is his romp into the Supernatural.

If you are going to do Giallo, start with Deep Red, or The Bird with Crystal Plumage. Both are really good Giallo.

Other really good titles: Twitch of the Death Nerve, Black Belly of the Tarantula, and Don't Torture a Duckling.

Thanks for the movie suggestions. I realize now that Suspiria didn't really fall into the "Giallo" category, but after seeing it, I didn't give any of these other movies a chance. You and constant cough have peaked my interest with some of these, especially The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.
