Just binged season 1 and 2. Holy shite what an awesome series. This may be one of the best anthologies I’ve ever watched. I LOVED how things we’re tied together from season to season and was taken by surprise by the twist in the second season.

Highly recommend it to any one.

I didn’t think I’d end up liking season two more than s1 but I definitely did.

I thought season 3 was fantastic! I'd rate the seasons: 2, 3 and then 1.

I'm a fan of season 3 as well. It was the weirdest of the 3 for sure but I liked that. The bowling alley scene was tremendous. And after it was all over the beginning scene in East Germany was pretty cool to re-watch. Season 3 required more thought than any television season I can think of. But there was a reason for all of it.

Oh puh-lease! I'm not denying S3 had some wonderful moments but overall it was an incohesive mess and a dreadful display of story-telling.

2,1.....3

3 was still really good TV, but definitely a tier below the first two seasons.

Can do a 30 day trial with Hulu through Amazon Prime. That’s how I’ll end up watching it.

whats impressive is how each season there is a new actor/actress that just absolutely kills it in their role.

Two questions about S2:

What was the point of the ufos in season 2? Was that just added in as a sign of the times?

What was up with the language that the dad was creating? His daughter discovered it, freaked out, and then he just explains it a bit in the last episode? Do you think they were going to tie it into the ufo story line but decided against it?

Good link. I wasn't a fan of the UFO but I think this is a pretty good explanation, and has a lot to do with why I like season 3 as much as I do. Definitely untidy, and season 2 is the "best" of them. But there is something I really love about season 3, it had me re-watching episodes in a way that I never did for seasons 1 or 2.

quote:

And I thought, ‘Why is this in the movie?’ It has nothing to do with the movie — except the movie says, ‘This is a true story.’ They put it in there because it ‘happened.’ Otherwise you wouldn’t put it in there. The world of ‘Fargo’ needs those elements; those random, odd, truth-is-stranger-than-fiction elements.”

“Especially because the storytelling is so compact, so tight, that it can’t be too tidy,” Willimon chimed in. “You have to add some untidiness to it.”

“Whenever you introduce those elements, you engage the audience’s imagination,” Hawley said. “When you’re not spoon-feeding a linear story, when you’re leaving gaps for the imagination, the audience is going to have to invest more in it. And I think that dynamic relationship is much better than just watching.”

Season One was a Billy Bob tour de force.
Season Two had a better ensemble.
I quit watching Season Three.
