Birdman robbed Whiplash in broad daylight though.

I couldn’t even finish it. And was expecting something great the way people talked about it.

This movie does the multiverse far better than any other movie.
It was a unique, but sensical twist on what we usually see from multiverse stories. Fun and wacky, but also emotional at the core, even among the other universes.

It’s the first sci-fi movie to win Best Picture. Long overdue for the genre
1000%. There’s been many worthy, so I was glad to see a great film be the first sci-fi to win BP. Hoping that Dune 2 is the next one.

At its core, it’s a family dysfunction drama
I just recently rewatched EEAAO, and thought to myself how this is really the reason it works. This could be true of any film. If you center a project on relatable characters with real emotions and drama - that could be family, job, relationship, self, whatever - then you can have craziest scenarios around them and the film still works.
Parasite is another example of this. Both brilliant films and my favorite two BP winners of the past 10-15 years.
